Artcraft Aquires Vose Swain

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Artcraft Company today announced the acquisition of The Vose Swain Engraving Company from Bowne of Boston. This acquisition makes Artcraft the single largest engraving company in the Northeast and affirms its leadership position as New England's #1 producer of fine quality stationery and identity materials for leading corporations, professional firms and law firms.

The details of the acquisition were not disclosed. Artcraft president John Dumouchel said Vose Swain will continue “business as usual.” Dumouchel noted the Boston-based business will be fully integrated with Artcraft during the first quarter of 2006. “This is an exceptional time for our company. For the sixth year in a row, we have grown at an aggressive pace in spite of the realities of a lackluster economy. Our industry is undergoing a fundamental transformation. The stakes are high and we intend to remain as a strong player in this new competitive landscape,” Dumouchel said.

With this acquisition, Artcraft has also announced its complete shift to online procurement and as a resource for variable print on demand with its strategic affiliation with Printable Technologies. “Printable Technologies is proud to support Artcraft as the company navigates the industry's shift to fully-automated, web-based print procurement and production,” said Coleman Kane, President and CEO, Printable Technologies Inc. “Artcraft customers can access catalogs of printed materials — including inventoried print and ad specialties, print on demand, and personalized or customized direct mail. This extends Artcraft's range of printed products from engraved office stationery to data-driven, variable print on demand.”

Although specifics were not disclosed, Dumouchel acknowledged that the growth of Artcraft outpaces the average small business aggregate growth rate of approximately 29% over the past three years.

“Our growth directly correlates with our business planning efforts. We have had to continue to evolve our business to meet the fluid needs of our customers.”

The acquisition of Vose Swain is the seventh in a series of strategic moves initiated by Dumouchel to continue the accelerated growth of this 65- year old firm.
